Pangur for Mac
Pangur for Mac is the same workspace in a native window — same
sign-in, same library, same /api/* as the web client. It is not a separate account or a
second library.
Requires macOS 26 on Apple silicon. Download the current build from pangur.io/download.
What the Mac app adds
Section titled “What the Mac app adds”- Photos — bring manuscript photographs in from the Photos library without exporting them first. They file as private IIIF sources on the manuscript, the same as uploads in the web client. See Manuscript facsimiles.
- Local Zotero import — from a project’s settings, or the welcome step, import the Zotero library on this Mac into that project (in addition to the one-time zotero.org import).
- The command-line tool — the app installs
pangur(andzcp, its old name) for Terminal when it starts, and keeps it up to date with itself. See the CLI.
Everything else — Library, Ask, Analysis, Research, Plan, Write, Publish — matches the web
client. Assistants and zcp talk to the same hosted library whether you last edited in
the app or in a tab.
Section titled “Sign in”Use the same email and password (or SSO) as pangur.io/signin. The app opens the workspace in its window; there is no separate Mac-specific auth flow.
When to use the Mac app
Section titled “When to use the Mac app”Use it when your work involves local photographs or Zotero Desktop on the same machine. Use the web client everywhere else — or alongside the app; both stay in sync through the service.
