Settings

Settings at /settings holds what belongs to you rather than to one project: your profile, how the workspace looks on this device, institution access, assistants, the command line and the tour. Three pages sit beside it, linked from the top of Settings and from the account menu in the topbar:

  • Account & billing (/account) — your plan, its renewal, signing out and deleting the account
  • Usage (/usage) — what you have used of each limit on your plan
  • Support (/support) — the documentation, and a way to reach a person

Projects and imports have pages of their own.

Profile shows the name and email you sign in with. They come from your sign-in account and are changed there.

Appearance sets the theme (light, dark, or matching the device) and how tightly the library list is set. Both are kept on the device, so a phone and a desk can differ.

The Projects page (account menu → Projects, or /projects) lists your projects and makes, renames and removes them. The project you opened last is the one assistants and the command line use. Each project’s own settings page holds its imports, from zotero.org or from the Zotero library on a Mac, its recent import jobs, an export of all its references as one BibTeX, RIS or CSL-JSON file, and its private links for Overleaf and other tools, and Export this project. See Projects and Import a Zotero library.

Export this project, in a project’s settings, puts everything in it into one ZIP file. Export your work on the Account page does the same for every project, one ZIP each. An export is prepared in the background; you get an email when it is ready, and it is kept for seven days. The ZIP holds:

  • references/: every reference as BibTeX, BibLaTeX, RIS and CSL-JSON; zotero.rdf, which Zotero desktop imports (File → Import) with notes, files and collections; and items.json, every library record exactly as Pangur holds it.
  • files/ and notes/: each stored file, and each note as a web page.
  • documents/: research documents and drafts, every saved version as Markdown, the current text as a Word file, and the sources each version drew on.
  • transcriptions/, recordings/, analysis/, ask/: transcriptions as TEI and PAGE XML, with their named versions and imported TEI texts, transcripts of recordings with captions, the people, places and events read from primary sources as CSV, and every Ask thread with the passages quoted.
  • photographs/ and exhibitions/: archive photographs as they were uploaded, and each exhibition with its media.
  • data/: arrangements, the catalogue, copies and corpora, table by table.

README.txt inside says what each folder holds, and lists anything that could not be exported. The search index and image tiles are left out; they are made again from the rest.

When your hosted library exists, Settings shows:

  • MCP — the connector URL and OAuth client id for Claude, ChatGPT or coding agents
  • Command line — install notes and zcp login for the same account

Detailed setup lives in Connect an assistant and Command line (zcp).

Configure an EZproxy prefix or OpenURL resolver so PDF imports can use your institution’s access. Imports that need a manual upload are marked awaiting_upload — see Importing references.

Account & billing shows the account you are signed in with and your plan: its name, when it renews or ends, and what it allows. From there you can move to the Researcher plan, manage payment through the billing portal, or, in the iPhone and iPad app, manage or restore an App Store subscription. A plan bought through the App Store is changed or cancelled there, not on the web.

Delete account, at the foot of the page, starts an irreversible removal flow. Export your projects first if you want to keep them.

Usage lists each limit on your plan with what you have used of it and when it resets:

  • Ask questions — on the free plan, questions in the last 30 days; on paid plans, a fair-use count over the last 24 hours. Each question counts for the length of that window, so the page says when the oldest one drops off.
  • Model use, full write-ups and long-form writing — daily allowances that reset at midnight UTC.
  • Manuscript readings and transcriptions — daily allowances counted from the first reading of the day.
  • Storage and live exhibitions — totals, which go down only when you remove something.

Below the limits, the last 30 days of model use are totalled by task.

Support links to this documentation and, where your instance takes support tickets, has a form to file one and a list of the ones you have filed. Otherwise it points to the contact page.

Under Help → Workspace tour, Replay tour clears first-run progress and walks the whole workspace again from the home page map: every destination, and the features inside each.
