Terms of service

The service

Pangur is a workspace for research: collecting sources, reading them, questioning them and writing from them. It is operated from the United Kingdom. During the launch period access is by waitlist and features may change without much ceremony; we will tell you about changes that matter.

Your account

One person per account. You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in, and for keeping the password to yourself. We may suspend an account used to break the law, to attack the service, or to harass other people.

Your content

Your library, notes, transcriptions and writing are yours. You give us only the licence needed to store them, show them back to you, and pass them to the services you invoke (a model answering your question, a repository serving a facsimile). Anything you choose to publish under your handle is public at your instruction and can be unpublished the same way.

Fair use of the models

The paid plans carry daily allowances on model-backed features. They are set so that ordinary daily work never meets them; automated bulk use that does is throttled rather than billed.

Copyright

Pangur fetches files through open access and through the institutional access you configure — the same routes your own browser would take. You are responsible for holding the rights to what you upload and publish.

Liability

Pangur is provided as it stands. We work to keep it up and to keep your data safe, and we take backups, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service and we are not liable for consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending

You can leave whenever you like: export your data, delete your account, done. If we ever discontinue the service we will give you at least ninety days and a way to take everything with you.
